Our Story: The History of Solid Rock Church
Humble Beginnings
Solid Rock was founded in 1989 by a small group of faithful believers passionate about sharing Christ’s love with their community. Reverend James Cook organized the church in 1989. One year later, Pastor Herman and Illene Sears came to Inverness from Plant City, Florida, to take over the reins. The church was then known as the Harvest Temple Church of God. Despite humble beginnings, their vision was clear: to create a place where all could experience God’s grace, grow in faith, and serve others. In 1998, Solid Rock Christian Academy was added as a church ministry. The school has grown from a small group of students to close to 300 students today.
